Coronavirus is furthering the Rethinking of Everything, meaning that isolation and a general slowdown in economic activity are giving individuals time to reassess how they live. COVID-19 is an example of what we have called World War III, by which we mean the conflicts arising from permeable borders and the ability to transgress borders, boundaries, barriers, concepts, ideas, beliefs and defenses in general with greater and greater ease. The transgression of one’s body by an “invader” is particularly troublesome when it has no known antidote. The anxiety that such an invasion triggers is leading individuals to reassess how they want to live and work, including: Societal Safety Nets; Entertainment; Quality of Life/Lifestyle; Work; Education; Shopping and Retail; Experiences; Debt/Leverage; Surveillance; and the Environment. Curiously enough, these reassessments are contributing to the emergence of the Repair and Enhance Grand Narrative.
