The global economy is struggling, a disease that has confounded scientists as well as political leaders is spreading, social dissidents are moving through the streets of cities worldwide, and international rules of law on trade, diplomacy and weaponry are losing their hold on more and more countries. In this uncertain and unclear environment, two countries, China and the United States, have decided to exchange economic and military challenges. Both are approaching their own crossroads, a place where they must decide what they can continue to do, whethe rcontinuing such conflict is ultimately in their own best interest and how best to retain or expand their influence without endangering a delicate peace. Such a period of transition will be resolved when the two countries decide how best to allot (and share) global power.
