Crisis In American Education Again...Or Still?

The pandemic was devastating for education, with students' test scores falling, teachers leaving their profession in greater numbers and chronic absenteeism becoming widespread and continuing even after schools brought students back to the classroom. But test scores were declining even before the pandemic, and absenteeism as well as other classroom problems had become commonplace as well. The pandemic merely exacerbated the problems.

Can the U.S. turnaround its current education "crisis" and how is that crisis connected to society's problems as a whole?
