Europe's Moment Of Opportunity

Europe is entering a period of peril and of opportunities. With past vulnerabilities (EU member unity, social unrest, national debt and economic liabilities) restraining its abilities and with risks (Russia and a threat of an invasion and a trade war) challenging its leaders to respond effectively, the Continent faces real obstacles. But opportunities (global trade expansion, growing euro power and an appeal to scientists) offer the Continent a moment to move to the center of the international stage and become a power player. Even with economic vulnerabilities, Europe is becoming stronger, its military defenses are getting more potent, its scientific research capabilities could be getting a boost, and its markets are becoming more appealing to investors.
