From Work To Post-Work

Jobs once financed a massive consumer market; now the New Economy is changing the concept of jobs, and that is causing damage to several retail markets. As individuals face more daunting and stressful work environments, and as other individuals suffer from financial stresses because of lower pay packages, many people are rethinking their work realities. Can society and its economy adjust effectively to individuals working less and making less? But most critically, are changes in attitudes about work, shifts in skills required for jobs, new ideas about ways to live with and without work, the spread of artisanal and entrepreneurial enterprises and a recent corporate effort to retain valuable employees signaling a long-term and large-scale structural change to work in America?
