What has President Trump done today? That is the question journalists ask before posting their daily reports. But the real question may be: What are the consequences of Trump’s actions, especially in international relations? Trade, military maneuvers, research, currency valuations and other issues are affected daily by unilateral actions of the United States. Yet more and more countries are not standing by, awaiting what President Trump will do tomorrow. They are forming new kinds of relationships that enable them to circumvent U.S. sanctions, tariffs and other geo-economic and geopolitical restrictions. We have gathered observations of these actions into six categories: Science/Health; Defense; Energy; the Dollar; Diplomacy & Trade; and Chips & Technology. These actions are just the beginning of an emerging global strategy to make do without American involvement, a strategy that could eventually isolate the U.S., both economically and politically.
