Recent votes, whether Brexit, the constitutional referendum in Italy or the U.S. presidential election, have caught many by surprise and have led to a wellspring of commentary, charges, countercharges and all the other things that online and offline media can sustain. As a result of this head-spinning, most Americans’ heads are, shall we say, off-center, and individuals are “spending far too much of our time” doing “unimportant” things, according to one psychotherapist. To get their heads realigned, Americans and citizens of other countries who are concerned about their economies yet are enveloped by activities that have set their heads off-kilter need to focus their attention on topics that will actually affect the global economy…and themselves. We suggest they turn their attention away from the “noise” and toward three items that will determine how current reality plays out: New Autocrats, Artificial Intelligence and China’s Silk Road Initiative.
