Holiday Boom

Americans have recently espoused an economic anomaly: They have claimed that their personal finances have been just fine while, at the same time, claiming that the overall economy has been doing poorly. That anomaly drove the recent U.S. presidential election to one candidate, and it will drive consumer spending in the upcoming holiday season. Consumers have discretionary money in their pockets and a positive view of their personal finances. More consumers have even in the very recent past discovered a positive attitude about the U.S. economy. That, along with the fact that the election is in the rearview mirror, will likely have at least a momentary calming effect on individuals and will encourage them to turn to family and good friends for stability and comfort. The combination of these effects is encouraging consumers to spend more money this holiday season on celebrations with and gifts for their family and their closest friends.
