Many Americans are grappling with the psychological responses of what increasingly appears to be a world out of their control. In addition to coping by means of practices like self-medication or soothing with practices like meditation, another outlet for this psychological stress is expressions of anger. Anger and frustration are being channeled and directed at some “other” group that is cast as “the cause of my problems” or the unfair beneficiary of the current environment. We consider a wide range of varying group-against-group conflicts that have emerged in the past year and the way in which Us-Versus-Them rhetoric has gained an audience.
