"It's Not Working For Me, And I'm Tired Of It"

Frustration becomes anger, which becomes rage, and more and more Americans become disillusioned with the possibility of achieving some version of the American Dream. Affordability and inflation are two causes of this evolving frustration, not the results. Americans have grown angry over large disparities in income and wealth. They have nurtured frustration with large corporate profits coming at the expense of customer satisfaction. They are growing tired of Big Tech making a grab for their attention, enhancing their loneliness and affecting their interpersonal connections, all just to make more money. Moreover, they are feeling like they can no longer depend on institutions – whether governments or corporations – to protect them from the spreading financial and physical risks, or at the least, offer them aid after a disaster, especially since safety nets are being reduced or eliminated. Americans face critical decisions about the survival of their democracy versus extending wealth disparity, fairness for all or for a few, and even traditional morality (i.e., if it offers the greatest uplift for the greatest number, it’s good) versus a transactional ethics (i.e., if it makes a profit, it’s good). America has entered an era in which its traditional identity is being challenged.
