Moving Through Uncharted Territory

Numerous major and dramatic dynamics affecting industries and organizations across society are emerging simultaneously, confusing individuals and making “uncertainty” a frequently used word. Increasing damage from climate change and the lingering effects of the pandemic are just two of these dynamics, and they are accompanied by a live-stream war; the weaponizing of finance and the rule of law; and the possibility of something similar to Cold War 2.0 (a.k.a. a recast globalization). Each of these dynamics would normally require the full attention of leaders everywhere, but their simultaneity and their overlapping impacts elevate risks, uncertainty, confusion and damages. Individuals have reacted to this environment by leaning on emotions to make quick decisions, creating sudden extremes in valuations, behavior and mindsets. Living in such a risky and uncertain environment is encouraging individuals to take chances, often in the form of gambling and speculating, which elevates risks to another level.
