Passive To Active

The U.S. Surgeon General has said the United States is facing an epidemic of loneliness. During the pandemic, many Americans became isolated and remote, with almost no social gatherings. As a result, they became passive observers – online, on television and even at concerts and other performances. They were simply members of an audience of everything. That was great for online enterprises that delivered goods to the passive customer. No more. Online activities are down, as are delivery services.

Americans have become active, availing themselves of sports leagues, outdoor adventures, running clubs, camping, exercise classes and many other meetings and gatherings that involve direct participation. For some, an active life means political activism, while others are focusing on their well-being, both social and physical.
