In a global survey of 10,000 adults by Havas Worldwide, 68 percent of respondents say they believe businesses bear as much responsibility as governments for driving positive social change. Actions by many companies suggest management is sensing a rising tide of concern over the broader positive and negative impacts their companies have in the world – concerns that may be coming not only from consumers but also from some investors and certainly from employees within those companies themselves. As the United States continues to piece together a new Grand Narrative, part of the emerging narrative is that companies must take on responsibilities beyond their financial duty to their shareholders.
