The spreading reality that border and boundary transgressions in geopolitical, societal, economic and personal areas are causing psychological as well as physical harm has given new life to a decades-old phrase, “Stay in your lane, Bro.” Too Much Change, as we have written, and too many negative psychological effects of those changes are setting up a dynamic between those who favor disruptions and those who desire continuity and some sort of order in their lives. We have gathered observations that we place on those two sides of the dynamic: Lane Changers and Lane Defenders. The dynamic between exploiting opportunities while taking risks and triggering unanticipated problems or remaining in place and potentially stalling some advancements is society’s current dilemma.
