Dire circumstances have inspired a growing number of writers to suggest the coming end of most things, including U.S. affluence and influence. On a personal level, individuals have been looking at spreading violence, routine bullying, corruption eating away at foundational institutions, endless battles with a novel coronavirus, instances of depression and anxiety, economic stresses, another war and so on and think society might just be coming apart.
