Large language models (LLMs) are proliferating and now are increasingly replacing or augmenting humans in diverse sectors and activities. In addition to psychotherapy, these uses include, but are not limited to, entertainment, art, media, marketing, the workplace and politics. As this type of technology continues to extend into more and more complex uses, individuals, companies and institutions are not only asking “Who Needs Real People?” but they are also scrutinizing the effects of the technology’s uses across society.
