World leaders are currently charged with several international problems: mediating natural disasters that increase in intensity and cost every year; an energy crisis that could turn off the heat in many places this winter; inflation that could lead to stagflation; the first European war since the Second World War; domestic discontent in countries as widespread as the Czech Republic, China and Iran that is just starting to erupt; food shortages that add to a nascent famine in African countries; and a varying virus that is more resilient than many leaders thought. Moreover, their wherewithal is diminishing as the yen, yuan, pound and euro have lost value against the U.S. dollar. All of which are taking place in the middle of what we have called Uncharted Territory.
